Secret Church Sunday
What would it be like if we couldn’t meet openly to worship Jesus together as church? This is the reality for millions of Christians across the world, who have to worship in secret, and who have to find creative ways to continue their church activities.
On the morning of Sunday 15th June, 11-12pm, just for an hour or so, we will have an opportunity to get a tiny taste of what fellow brothers and sisters experience all the time.
As you know, there are 2 Sundays when we can’t meet at Broadwater School: Sunday 15th June when we will meet in different homes in and around Godalming for Secret Church. And Sunday 29th June when we will meet in the Borough Hall.
For Secret Church, various households have been approached to host around 10-15 people on that Sunday morning; and everyone who would like to take part will be allocated a household to join that Sunday with others. We will meet with all ages together to worship God in a different context from the usual; the format will include singing (in a whisper!) reading the Bible, a short video talk from Pete, some activities to help us engage with the persecuted church, praying etc. The content is suitable for all ages!
And afterwards, we will be able to get together for a picnic in the park in Godalming, meeting near the bandstand, in Phillips Memorial Park (GU7 1EP) – parking nearby in Crown Court Car Park. We will gather from 12.30-1pm. Do bring your picnics, and enjoy precious fellowship all together.
We really hope that as many as possible of us will want to be part of this unique opportunity. To let us know, and so be allocated to meet with others in someone’s home, please sign up here: Sign up for Secret Church Sunday. We will let you know where you will be meeting, and with whom, a few days before.
We are praying that God will use this time to deepen our relationship with him and with others in our church family, and also deepen our understanding of what life is like for millions of Christians across the world.
